Countdown Schedule
I’ve broken down the remaining things I have to do to finish this module into this schedule. I’m sure I wont stick to it exactly, but at least it’s a plan! 11th March – Endnote – set up OCA Harvard citation style 12th-15th March 16th-20th March – Finish Contextual Study (using Blog entries, etc. 21st… Continue reading Countdown Schedule
Student Working Day
It was a nice opportunity to work together with fellow students, even if it was via Teams. I made a few composites, and it is good to keep at it.
Composites and Collages
Most of the work I’ll be doing in this MA will consist of composite or collage images made digitally or physically. In the first module they will all be digital. I’m scanning images of letters, photos and other objects and combining them digitally. I know a lot of techniques for doing the digital editing in… Continue reading Composites and Collages
Lingering Memories
As part of our PPP we have been asked/exhorted/(forced?) to get our work ‘out there’. When I was shown this call by Blair, I thought it was made for me. We will see if that’s the case by November. I had a bit of an initial problem as the call shown here, that Blair had… Continue reading Lingering Memories
Old, Male, Troublemaker, Stubborn
On Monday we were invited to a Provocation talk by the students of Module 1.3. We were asked at the beginning to describe ourselves with a few labelling words. Mine are in the title. We had only a few seconds to come up with our labels, and I’m glad I chose these ones. The latter… Continue reading Old, Male, Troublemaker, Stubborn
Ethics and morals
I had already given some thought to this as we were working on the first module and I’m sure it will come up again. I’ve been recalling some memories, as time and memories are big themes in my work, particularly the slice of time encompassing the period when I made my MSc in Physics in… Continue reading Ethics and morals
A Bag of Marbles
This is a book I got today at a charity shop. It’s about two boys during World War II. I’m seeing interesting stuff everywhere now about time, memories and how they change. The words in the preface struck a chord. Preface “This book isn’t the work of a historian. I’ve drawn on my childhood recollections… Continue reading A Bag of Marbles
Lessons
“We are doing that in my Book Club”, said the woman sitting opposite me on the train. I was on the last leg of my journey home from Berlin where I had attended a workshop in video editing. It was a long, strenuous trip ; the U-Bahn from Wittenburgplatz to Bahnhof Zoo, the train from… Continue reading Lessons
Current Studio Practice
This was my presentation (https://spaces.oca.ac.uk/wallet6/wp-content/uploads/sites/3554/2023/08/Current-Studio-Practice-smaller-David-Wright.pptx), but not really how I presented it! I was expecting some people for another cohort, so I put in some background, but only one was present. I wrote a bit for the other cohort, and here it is, but I didn’t read it out, just improvised. 1 First Page Hi,… Continue reading Current Studio Practice
