Last Sunday I had a search on Facebook for #latenightart on Facebook, and found that the late night art gallery openings in Belfast were running again on the first Thursday of the month – that meant this week. Also, that there was a late night viewing of an exhibition at Artcetera gallery for emerging artists on Thursday. I thought I was too late to get an entry in, but I contacted them anyway.

I went to the viewing on Thursday night. It was quite crowded, mainly young people. I was not too impressed by the art, and most of the presentation of it – due to the artists or the gallery? But I’m no expert.
I took along some of my work too. I didn’t know Olivier, but made a guess and I was right. In the past I would not have had the nerve to just introduce myself, but I’m getting a bit more thick-skinned in my old age!

I gave him about a 2 minute tour of these posters and some individual images. He seemed a bit impressed, especially by the presentation in the posters, I asked him about the next Melting Pot exhibition, I’m on the waiting list, and he said it would be in the spring.
He also suggested I contact the NI Science Festival (https://nisciencefestival.com/) as he had worked with them beforehand say that Artcetra were interested. I looked at their (NISF) site, but couldn’t really find an area where my present work would fit in. Olivier was very vague about this and seemed to be in a hurry, so I didn’t press him, I’ll have to think more about this.
