I decided, after some prodding by Michele (!), to plunge in and just start on something alongside the reading and writing.
Tonight I scanned most of the objects, except personal letters, from the middle drawer of the storage chest of drawers containing the objects from Pandora’s box. How will I collate the personal letters? Just scan the envelopes and put post-it notes on them? Anyway, I’ve decided to do some more composites/collages this week to see what emerges. Could be exciting! I’m going to Venice the following week and I need to have some work to show by then.
First Attempt
I put together the image of a record receipt
a map of Brock U campus
and bus tickets from the city to the campus (yes, I found them in the box!)
and made the following composite/digital collage.
I find it to be really exciting to make these composites! For myself it’s interesting to look at the scans of the infra-ordinary, but would that interest another viewer? Maybe it would challenge them to tease out what I’ve been doing? Do I care? Anyway, I’m going to continue in this vein for a while, I think there’s something in this.
