Jelly on the plate

So far my work has been mainly to do with digital photography, digital editing, compositing and writing. I’d like to extend it into hybrid forms of collaging. This is a good time to try such work, in between modules, when we have no official course work to do.

One of the methods I’m going to try is the use of Gelli plates. I’ll experiment with the plates first, using stencils or artefacts, such as bubble wrap and other mark makers and acrylic paint, then incorporate my photo images and documents as well. Let’s see what happens!

I’ve just made a start. Here is my working area. It’s an old architect’s table overlooked by my Nubian taskmistresses.
