Sundays on the beach aren’t a good place for walking dogs in winter. Sunrise is so late even the lazyboneses can be there! I wonder should I contact these ladies about what the swimming in the sea does for them? Maybe give a questionnaire to the two I know? Finn is a blur as he… Continue reading The beach again, but Castlerock this time

On the Beach
I went to Whiterocks beach this morning before sunrise with Mac and Finn, my Irish setters. It was a murky morning, very misty. The sky had a magenta hue from the early red and grey colours diffused by the mist, although the colour changed from moment to moment. Mac, aged 11, in the foreground and… Continue reading On the Beach
Concrete Poetry
In our one-to-one Michele mentioned Concrete Poetry and that jogged my memory and really appealed to me. The Poetry Foundation’s definition : “Verse that emphasizes non-linguistic elements in its meaning, such as a typeface that creates a visual image of the topic. Examples include George Herbert’s “Easter Wings” and “The Altar” and George Starbuck’s “Poem in the Shape of a… Continue reading Concrete Poetry

Form Frame Fracture
This section lasts from Week 4 to Week 9. In the first week we are to continue some work or start a new piece of work, and use the code ‘Form Frame Fracture’ in any order (but stick to this code) to produce a sketch of this work or use it to disrupt the current practice (in a positive way).
First Making Day
Our first Making Day was on 19th November 2022, from 9 am to 1 pm. I managed to get my Fuji XT4 camera set up as a webcam the night previously, so I could film the making of the images by camera as well as the editing of the images in Photoshop on my computer.
Postscript to Week 3 Zoom meeting
Sculpture/Casting Wallet and/or H2 Camera I had a break out room from the Zoom meeting with Blair. I wasn’t very sure what his project entailed. I’d thought it was about erosion of concrete buildings. I now think it’s more about casting or moulding structures using recycled materials to form the structures fabricated. (reformat). When we… Continue reading Postscript to Week 3 Zoom meeting
Reflection on Week 3 task – ‘Feelings and Method of Working’
What I wrote Photography on the Beach How do you feel when you make your work? Feelings When I leave home for a photoshoot on the beach at sunrise with my dogs, my surroundings will be dark and quiet. As we near the beach, the dogs will know where we are and become excited. I’ll… Continue reading Reflection on Week 3 task – ‘Feelings and Method of Working’
