Most of the contents of this box also dated from the 1970s. Some are from the ‘wallet’ period (75-78) at Brock University in Canada and some overlapped with it. I just had a quick look and will go back and do a more thorough check later. Could this give me a wider slice of time?… Continue reading Making Day -opening Pandora’s Box

Altered Book 2
I thought I’d make a start on this idea, so I made (in Photoshop) a few backgrounds. Then made a distressed edge Did this with a couple of my thesis pages These are incomplete, but something to ponder and try again. I think I need more colour, they are a bit bland.
Altered book
Last night I was reading “The Found Object in Textile Art” by Cas Holmes and the section on ‘Altered Books’ (p.80-81) caught my eye. It suggested using a found book, or cheap substitute, and using as a base or substrate for a series of collages. This seemed like a great idea to me. When I… Continue reading Altered book
Contextual Study outline

More Books, Perec and Keri Smith
More reading for the New Year! Keri Smith’s ‘Everything is Connected’ is a book of postcards (!) with suggestions or inspirations for practical art if you run out of ideas. Perec’s books are ‘Life, a user’s manual’ and ‘I remember’.

Beach Theme
For the “Beach” theme I have lots of images, I must try to sort out and test the various ideas that arise there :- Beach, dogs, sunrise, waves, tides, health, living in the moment A slice of time, I prefer this to a frozen instant – ‘the decisive moment’ Can be represented by a long… Continue reading Beach Theme
