In our one-to-one Michele mentioned Concrete Poetry and that jogged my memory and really appealed to me.
The Poetry Foundation’s definition : “Verse that emphasizes non-linguistic elements in its meaning, such as a typeface that creates a visual image of the topic. Examples include George Herbert’s “Easter Wings” and “The Altar” and George Starbuck’s “Poem in the Shape of a Potted Christmas Tree”. This was a really important reminder for me, it seems an obvious direction for me to try out for the ‘Wallet’ or ‘Beach’ themes. I’m thinking of collages and composites in photography and maybe writing and/or ceramics. I’m buzzing with ideas on this!
FIRST ATTEMPTS
This occurred to me on the train on Thursday. I have to find the images for it. It’s called Ballysally, a district of Coleraine, the town where I live.

This one was because of the similar shades of red in two items from my wallet, my membership card of Brock university and two condoms (brand SHEIK) in the coin pocket. I’ll put in the images later.
